I did not come to writing through the usual channels, like journalism, agency work or marketing. It was a complete fluke, as are so many of life’s fortuitous twists of fate. I don’t think either the editors at Electronic Musician Magazine or I realized they were opening the door to a whole new chapter in my life.
Going from songwriter to contributing writer may have been an unorthodox beginning, but I have managed to put my “outsider’s” perspective to good use for over a decade for a diverse group of sales, marketing, public relations, non-profit, arts, high-tech, health and wellness, publishing and corporate communications clients. I’m able to find the poetry in business as easily as I can explain the business side of the arts. I can also take complicated technological, business or medical concepts and translate them into “plain English.” In fact, I pride myself in customizing the tone and language of everything I write — whether the intended audience is consumers, CEOs, the tattoo and piercing crowd or somewhere in between.
My arts and psychology background (a potentially deadly combination, I know) along with a natural curiosity about how things work and what makes people who they are give my writing a fresh voice and distinctive perspective. Years of work writing lyrics have also helped me hone techniques for “saying a lot with a little.”
So, this is probably as good a place as any to invite you to take a look at a few writing samples.
